Revista Nordelta. The musical journey of Horacio Lavandera. “Sounds of the Eternal.” Saturday, June 28 – 7 p.m.

April 25, 2025
The acclaimed Argentine pianist will explore the musical connections between classical and pop music in a unique concert to benefit the Nordelta Foundation.
Virtuoso pianist Horacio Lavandera’s upcoming concert promises to be an unforgettable sonic experience, transcending eras and genres. In a special event to benefit the Nordelta Foundation, Lavandera will present a bold and fascinating repertoire entitled “Sounds of the Eternal,” uniting the genius of Ludwig van Beethoven, Gustav Mahler, The Beatles, and Gustavo Cerati.
The musical evening will begin with a journey to 18th and 19th-century England through the eyes of Beethoven. The audience will enjoy the ingenious Variations on “God Save the King” and Variations on “Rule Britannia,” works that demonstrate the German composer’s profound respect for British musical tradition and his ability to transform popular melodies into sophisticated concert pieces. This first part will culminate with the monumental work 33 Diabelli Variations, Op. 120, considered by musicologist Sir Donald Tovey to be “the greatest set of variations ever written.” This masterpiece, full of contrasts and virtuosity, includes everything from humorous passages to profound adagios and complex fugues, offering a comprehensive overview of the history of music in its late variations.
The second part of the concert will offer an immersion in Gustav Mahler’s emotional universe through original piano roll recordings by the composer himself. Unique versions of iconic songs and symphonic fragments will be heard, including the moving “Adagietto” from the Fifth Symphony, immortalized in film. This section will connect in a striking way with original interpretations by Horacio Lavandera of iconic Beatles songs such as “Imagine,” “Yesterday,” and “Eleanor Rigby,” revealing melodic lines and harmonic depth that transcend the pop genre.
The evening will culminate with a selection of original covers by Gustavo Cerati, one of the most influential artists of Argentine rock. Lavandera’s sensitivity and talent will be at the service of Cerati’s work, exploring new sonic dimensions and paying tribute to his musical legacy.
This unique concert will not only offer a fascinating musical journey through different styles and eras, but will also contribute to the important work of the Nordelta Foundation. An unmissable opportunity to enjoy Horacio Lavandera’s exceptional talent and support a worthy cause.
