Tierra sin mal. Horacio Lavandera returns to the Teatro Lírico with “Sounds of the Eternal.” Concert on August 8 at 9:00 p.m.
On Friday, August 8th at 9:00 PM, the pianist will perform a concert in which he will not only cover classical works, but will also embark on a journey through timeless classics, featuring pieces from the Beatles to the world of Gustavo Cerati.
The great Argentine pianist Horacio Lavandera presents a show that combines classics from all eras. The show, titled “Sounds of the Eternal,” ranges from Ludwig van Beethoven and Gustav Mahler to works by Gustavo Cerati and classics by Lennon and McCartney of The Beatles.
“Sounds of the Eternal” will be presented on Friday, August 8th at 9:00 PM, at the Teatro Lírico del Parque del Conocimiento in Posadas, Misiones. Tickets are on sale at Ticket Misiones, Butaca Uno, and Kiosco Revistería Piturro.
The 33 Diabelli Variations, Op. 120 in C major, were composed between 1819 and 1823 based on a waltz by the Austrian composer and music publisher Anton Diabelli. It was Diabelli who, in 1819, commissioned variations from Vienna’s leading composers for a charity album to help the widows and orphans of the Napoleonic Wars. British musicologist Sir Donald Tovey considered them “the greatest set of variations ever written.”
The second part of this concert will take us through the original piano roll versions recorded by Gustav Mahler himself of his most iconic songs and passages from his symphonies, including the “Adagietto,” immortalized in Luchino Visconti’s film Death in Venice.
These compositions will be interspersed with Horacio Lavandera’s versions of iconic songs by members of The Beatles, such as Imagine, Yesterday, and Eleanor Rigby. Finally, a selection of original versions by Gustavo Cerati, one of the greatest exponents of Argentine rock, will be presented.
Finally, the great Argentine classical pianist will pay a special tribute to chamamé music by performing significant works by Mario del Tránsito Cocomarola, translated into his own brilliant piano interpretation. The concert will conclude with the grandson of the great chamamé composer, Grabiel Cocomarola, playing the bandoneon, to recreate a classic by his grandfather.
