The second part of the concert will include recordings of Gustav Mahler’s most iconic works, such as the “Adagietto” from his Fifth Symphony, followed by covers of iconic Beatles songs such as “Imagine” and “Yesterday,” and finally, a selection of songs by Gustavo Cerati. Tickets are available at www.ticketek.com.ar or at the theater box office.

The solo piano concert that Horacio Lavandera will give on October 25th begins with the tribute Ludwig van Beethoven paid to the kings of England through variations on two of their most famous melodies, transformed into hymns: “God Save the King” and “Rule Britannia.” These melodies were as popular in their time as they are today.

The 33 Diabelli Variations, Op. 120 in C major, were composed between 1819 and 1823 based on a waltz by the Austrian composer and music publisher Anton Diabelli. It was Diabelli who, in 1819, commissioned variations for a charity album from Vienna’s leading composers, seeking to help the widows and orphans of the Napoleonic Wars. The British musicologist Sir Donald Tovey considered them “the greatest set of variations ever written.”

The second part of this concert will feature original piano roll versions recorded by Gustav Mahler himself of his most iconic songs and passages from his symphonies, including the “Adagietto,” immortalized in Luchino Visconti’s film “Death in Venice.”

Finally, these compositions will be combined with Horacio Lavandera’s versions of iconic songs by members of The Beatles, such as “Imagine,” “Yesterday,” and “Eleanor Rigby.”

Finally, a selection of original versions by Gustavo Cerati, one of the greatest exponents of Argentine rock, will be presented.
