Horacio Lavandera: a piano prodigy arrives who defies genres
March 18, 2026
Next Saturday, the 21st, at 8:00 PM, the renowned pianist Horacio Lavandera will perform as part of the Pro Arte Mercedes series – organized by the Florentino Ameghino School Alumni Association – with a concert offering a remarkably broad program spanning different periods and musical styles.
The first part will be dedicated to works by Johann Sebastian Bach, including the Concerto based on Marcello, BWV 973, the Chromatic Fantasy, BWV 903, and the iconic Goldberg Variations, BWV 988.
In the second part of the concert, he will perform pieces by Astor Piazzolla, such as Oblivion and the Punta del Este Suite. The program will feature compositions by Osvaldo Golijov, including Youth without Youth and Levante, alongside works by Frédéric Chopin: the Nocturne in C-sharp minor, the Andante spianato and Grand Polonaise, Op. 22, and the Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23.
The concert will conclude with a selection from the Star Wars suite, featuring music by John Williams in an arrangement by the performer himself, including the Title Theme, Across the Stars, Cantina Band, and Imperial March.
