Argentine pianist Horacio Lavandera will perform on April 3rd at 8:30 p.m. at the Teatro Colón (Yrigoyen 1666; Mar del Plata), with the show “Cinema at the Piano,” a concert that offers a musical journey between classical music and the silver screen.

The concert is aimed at both the performer’s regular audience and film and music lovers, with a program that links emblematic works from the academic repertoire with pieces immortalized on the big screen.

The first part will be dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach, with performances of the Chromatic Fantasy and the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988), one of the most influential compositions of the Baroque period. The latter achieved widespread cinematic recognition after its inclusion in the film The English Patient, where it accompanies key moments in the narrative.

In the second section, the program delves into Romanticism with works by Frédéric Chopin, including Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23, and the Andante spianato and Grand Polonaise, Op. 22. Ballade No. 1 is part of the soundtrack for the film The Pianist, directed by Roman Polanski, and has become one of the most recognized pieces of contemporary cinema.

The concert will close with a piano adaptation of John Williams’s Star Wars Suite. This segment will also include works by Osvaldo Golijov, who composed the score for the film *Youth Without Youth* in collaboration with director Francis Ford Coppola. The composer’s pieces *Youth Without Youth* and *Levante* will be performed.

The program is completed with two works by Astor Piazzolla used in film: *Oblivion* and *Suite Punta del Este*, the latter internationally known for its appearance in the film *12 Monkeys*, starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt.
