The Argentine pianist will perform emblematic pieces by Bach, Chopin, and John Williams on April 3 at the Teatro Colón.
February 22, 2026
The first part of the program will focus on the world of Johann Sebastian Bach through masterpieces such as the Chromatic Fantasia and the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988). These pieces, pillars of Baroque music, have played a fundamental role in cinematic narrative, notably their use in the film The English Patient, where the piano performance underscores key moments in the plot.
Later, the repertoire will delve into the Romanticism of Frédéric Chopin with Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23, and the Andante spianato and Grand Polonaise, Op. 11. 22. The first of these works achieved renewed global popularity after being featured in the film *The Pianist*, directed by Roman Polanski, where its intensity underscores the drama and struggle of the protagonist.
Towards the end of the program, Lavandera will perform a piano adaptation of the iconic *Star Wars* suite, composed by John Williams, along with compositions by Osvaldo Golijov for Francis Ford Coppola’s film *Youth Without Youth*. The program is rounded out with Astor Piazzolla’s innovative *Oblivion* and the *Punta del Este Suite*, a work featured in the soundtrack of the film *12 Monkeys*.
“This evening is a celebration of the power of music to tell stories, transform emotions, and transcend borders, taking the audience on a unique journey through the styles and eras that have shaped the evolution of piano music,” the artist said about the concert’s concept.
