Sounds of the Eternal: Gustav Mahler – The Beatles – Gustavo Cerati
Paul McCartney: “We always adored Mahler, and he was a huge influence on The Beatles’ music. John and I would sit for hours listening to Kindertotenlieder and Wunderhorn, taking turns singing and playing the piano. We thought Mahler was brilliant.”
This concert will take us through the original pianola roll versions recorded by Gustav Mahler himself of his most iconic songs and symphonic passages, including the “Adagietto,” immortalized by Luchino Visconti’s Death in Venice film. These compositions will be connected to Horacio Lavandera’s versions of iconic songs by The Beatles members, such as Imagine, Yesterday, and Eleanor Rigby. To finish, a selection of original works by Gustavo Cerati, one of the greatest exponents of Argentine rock, will be presented.
